Bint Nefisa was the last foal from Clifton Park Nefisa. For the previous four years, we had tried every trick in the book to have Nefisa successfully go in foal. She was bred to the most amazing stallions during this time...including Thaqib All Nasser, Immesmerize, Simeon Sahron and Ajman Moniscione, yet she would not hold. Imagine the amazing foals any or all of these combinations could have produced.
Years earlier, I had met a stallion named Windemere Imperial Nahdejni, who was sired by the Russian stallion Barabas, and from the Hawley bred mare Moniet. He had won at the National and was a QLD Challenge Supreme Champion Stallion. I loved him, and wanted to add him to my program however the time was not right. When he did eventually make it to my farm, he proved to be a very exciting horse to ride and we spent many hours in the bush together.
The season before he arrived, I had sent Nefisa, Nahlah and Ibtehag Albadeia to a well-known equine reproduction specialist in Qurindi, where they spent the entire summer trying for embryos...without even one success. Somewhat dissapointed, and feeling I may never get a foal from any of them, I took a chance and paddocked them all with Nahdejni...they all went in foal.
When Bint Nefisa was born I could hardly believe my eyes - here was a perfectly formed replica of the foal photos I had seen of her mother, it was uncanny. The foal was beautiful, we could not believe our luck.
In a cruel twist of fate, Bint Nefisa broke her leg at five weeks old and she could not be saved. Although she did not contribute to our breeding program, I think of her often, and what could have been, and thus honour her memory by featuring her on our website. It still brings me so much sadness to think of what could have been.
